Legal AI

The Institute for Ethical AI is working with a network of law firms with the objective of improving the benefits they can gain from AI and advanced technologies.

The legal consortium is looking at the potential to examine specific issues, including developing improved data analysis, enabling data to be collected more efficiently, as well as considering specific tools for improving their service. The agenda is determined by members of the consortium for their benefit and companies are invited to join.

Aside from the legal consortium the Institute has worked with individual companies including Moorcrofts Law and Brethertons LLP. Working with Moorcrofts the Institute is using natural language processing techniques to review legal contracts and rapidly identify dangerous clauses. The resulting online tool will be licensed to other SME law firms. Working with Brethertons the Institute reviewed their IT operations, business processes and strategic decision-making, turning their legal excellence into a modern, customer-focused business fit for the future.
