Researcher: Professor Fabio Cuzzolin
This research is focussed on automatically recognising human behaviour in streaming videos. The Visual Artificial Intelligence Laboratory has built world-class expertise in the understanding of human behaviour from streaming videos, in particular using deep learning. This work is making a significant contribution in the field of surgical robotics which seeks to develop a robotic assistant surgeon in the deployment of AI applications on high-end Huawei smartphones, negotiations to launch a new start-up providing the first AI-powered coaching app for athletes, and perspective commercial systems designed to monitor crowds and football players in the sports analytics domain. Fabio Cuzzolin leads one of the first research groups in the world to explore the use of deep learning for action detection.
